London Heathrow Airport Terminal Two Guide

Terminal 2 of Heathrow also called the Queen’s terminal went through a major overhaul and was reopened in mid 2014. The launch was well planned and enhanced the reputation of Heathrow in the global airport network. The lessons learnt from the 2008 disastrous unveiling of terminal 5 was put into good use and everything went on smoothly with this new development.

Following this event, a new light was thrown on Terminal 2 and here is a comprehensive guide to best enjoy its features.

Facilities

The most significant change brought to passengers by the renovation project is the sleek check in and security process in terminal 2. No more long queues at the terminal as there are 66 new self service kiosks and more premium check in desks. Security lanes are fast tracked by using self scanning depots for boarding passes. Passengers in terminal 2 can now enjoy 45 minutes of free wireless internet and seamless connections with airlines like Star Alliance.

Shopping

The newly refurbished terminal offers a better shopping experience to all passengers. From top fashion brands to travel essentials, there is a lot to keep the crowd indulged. The top stores of the terminal are Harrods, Hugo Boss, Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Michael Kors, Kurt Geiger and Paul Smith. Shopping areas are found before and after security as well as in the arrivals lounge. Additionally the first John Lewis store in the country has been opened at this terminal after the renovation.

Restaurants

If the shopping leaves you exhausted, there are a number of options for refreshment at the terminal 2 and they are La Salle, Leon, Eat, Costa, Gorgeous Kitchen, Wonder tree, The Perfectionists Cafe, Strada, And The Three Bells and so on. The new addition to the terminal is the new restaurant by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal.

Parking

Passengers driving to the airport can take advantage of the renewed parking spaces for both long and short term. Special business parking and valet parking are also available at Terminal 2.

Taxis and minicabs

If you have booked a minicab in advance, then chauffeurs will be awaiting your arrival in the arrivals lounge right after baggage claim. Another option would be to hire a taxi from the taxi ranking right outside the terminal 2 building.
